Well folks,

It has been fun here on wordpress.com, I liked it so much that I’m moving to wordpress.org and my brand new site liamkinnon.com. I’m hoping that actually having my own website will inspire me to actually start writing again. Anyway, I’m not going to expend much more energy on these old quarters. Let’s move!

Darn You Rogers and your lying ways.

About four and a half weeks ago I ordered an iPhone from Rogers. The guy I ordered from assured me that it would be two weeks before I had it, at the most four. I called them a week and a half ago and was told that the customer service guy who assured me it wouldn’t be that long before I got mine, apparently there were rumors of a shipment coming soon, didn’t really know… that it will actually be closer to six weeks. I was waiting until this weekend to see if it would actually show up but it still has not. I’m very annoyed for multiple reasons. First, I’m annoyed that I have to stay with rogers because they extended my contract a year ago without telling my Dad they were doing that, and secondly, that they blatantly lied to me about how long it would take to get a new iPhone. Only once I’d given them the money did they tell me it would take this long. I’m now stuck with this lying company for three years. Great.

This is a fetus, and as such it has no legal right to existence.

This is a fetus at 18 weeks. It is not a baby. It can be removed from the womb piece by piece and all that is occurring is the removal of a tumor.

John Tory is apparently considering running for mayor of Toronto. He seems to be the only person currently considering it who would actually have a shot. He was a businessman before entering politics and lord knows we could use a businessman running our city right now. John Tory is the man for Toronto.

Taking Blogging Seriously

I would love to write more. I would love to put provocative, witty, and intelligent posts up on a daily basis. I just can’t. I think it is because I take blogging seriously. If bloggers are going to be taken seriously then to a certain extent we have to take this thing we do seriously. So I try not to be lazy and actually find sources that confirm what I say. I read lots and comment little… I blog even less. This is because I try to ensure that my posts find some sort of grammatical and logical coherence. I still believe in capitalization, periods, and spellchecks. I have some difficulty with paragraphs, but I’m working on it.

I blog little because I want to blog write well. Maybe this defeats the point of blogging, but if all I leave is this little corner of cyberspace I would like it to not embarrass me posthumously.

Fleshy Mannequins

How often do you notice mannequins? We notice their clothes, but we never really notice them. I thought about this while walking on the Danforth the other day. We have a lot of store fronts with a lot of mannequins, and I never really think about them.

There is something else we have a lot of on the Danforth as well: Homeless people. I realized that I tend to treat them the same way I treat the mannequins. I pay no attention and walk right past them. I used to chalk this up to being a classic introvert. It struck me recently though that I’ve dehumanized them, rendered them part of the background landscape. I’m now trying to at least say hi, and share a few coins if I have them. They are not just fleshy mannequins.

I finally saw the latest Indiana Jones movie. I don’t think it was that bad, but that tends to happen when I’ve been told a movie is awful. All I have to say is (spoiler alert):

Aliens? Again, Spielberg? There are other ways to finish a movie.
